- I attended a little Borland presentation at the Southern California C++ Users'
- Group a few days ago (a day before the official announcement!).
-
- BDE will now be included in the basic product, in both 16 and 32 bit versions.
- Also 16 and 32 bit OCX, VBX, Win 95 controls (that's right -- most Win 95
- controls can be used in 16 bit programs). OWL 5.0 includes Win 95, OCX and
- Winsock routines. MFC 4.0 will be supported, but not included with the product.
- You have to borrow MFC from VC++ or something else and recompile with a
- provided script. The basic upgrade will be $200. The "Development Suite"
- upgrade, with Codeguard 16/32, Installshield license, version manager and
- AppAccelerator (something to do with Java) will be $300. Java tools are also
- included in the basic package.
-
- I think that they said that ODBC tools would be available shortly after the
- initial release of BC++ 5.0.
